Based on the happy reviews of [livejournal.com profile] theredhead and at least one other person, I purchased an Australian merino fleece from Melanda Park.  I didn't go top of the line, just bought a fine merino fleece, weighing in at about 1 kilo, a little dusty at the tips, but otherwise in good nick.  I've never washed a whole fleece successfully before, but following the incredibly easy method [livejournal.com profile] theredhead described, it's been an enjoyable learning experience.

But the -fleece-.  Oh my gods, the FLEECE!  I went down to check on my first pound in the laundry room, and couldn't resist pulling a tiny bit of fluff off to touch.  If I didn't know it was wool, I would swear this was angora- it's that soft, that fine, and just incredibly luscious.  I've never felt merino like this before in my life, much less spun it myself.  I find myself wanting to fall to my knees in front of it chanting "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!".  If any of you were considering ordering some wool, I can't begin to rave enough about it.  This is the fleece of your dreams.

And I have more than 2 pounds of it.  I'm not sure if I want to spin it, or just roll around in it for awhile...
